Family Friendly:
Take the kids on a ride from the one-lane Blackburn Point Swing Bridge in the north to the Albee Road Bridge in the south. They will enjoy the narrow, winding, seaside road and will be amazed by the beautiful sunset, impeccable natural landscaping, Gulf and bay views and magnificent estates.
Recreation / Culture:
Boat in the a.m., beach in the p.m.? Due to the narrow width of Casey Key (less than 300 yards in some areas!), many homes have property lines bordering both the bay and Gulf. Dock your boat in your back yard after a morning cruise, and head over to your front yard for a private day at the beach followed by an amazing Casey Key sunset.
The Blackburn Point Bridge is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and is one of the few remaining swing bridges in Florida. Built in 1926, the bridge is manually operated by a bridge tender, who manually uses mechanics to swing the bridge open horizontally to let tall boats pass (compared to a draw bridge that opens vertically). Very cool to see!
Favorite Restaurants:
The restaurant options on Casey Key are limited by design. However, just over the Blackburn Point Bridge (prior to entering Casey Key), is the Casey Key Fish House. This location serves as a wonderful option for island residents due to its proximity and laid-back tiki bar vibe. The restaurant offers fresh fish, live entertainment and a family-friendly atmosphere.
