Family Friendly:
The Gulf Gate Public Library is a 25,800 square-foot building with an adult reading garden, children’s activity garden, computer laboratory and drive-through book and media drop-off location. The library was newly-constructed in January 2015 replacing the previous library which was in a state of much needed repair.
Recreation / Culture:
Gulf Gate is less than two miles from Legacy Trail which is a dedicated public trail for runners, walkers, strollers and cyclists. The original Legacy Trail was built on an abandoned railroad corridor. More recently, Sarasota voters approved an extension of the Trail to be over 30 miles long with eventual access to downtown Sarasota.
Favorite Restaurants:
Brine Seafood and Oyster Bar is an upscale eatery located in Gulf Gate Village. They offer some of the area’s best oysters on the half shell from the northeast and west coast. Directly across the street, Monk’s Steamer Bar offers a more relaxed feel with a local take on Gulf of Mexico raw oysters, Cajun Crawfish and littleneck clams. The jumbo shrimp steamed with garlic butter is a house specialty.
