Welcome to West of Trail

The West of Trail neighborhood lies west of Tamiami Trail, and extends from Mound Street to Bay Road. Residents love being on Sarasota’s mainland as they are not subject to bridge traffic during their daily routines, yet have easy access to nearby Siesta Beach, Lido Beach and Downtown Sarasota for some weekend fun!

There are several different areas and communities that comprise West of Trail’s large footprint, with each offering a unique style and appeal. Harbor Acres is located on Sarasota Bay and is one of Sarasota’s most desirable mainland neighborhoods. It has waterfront homes that offer views of the Ringling Bridge, Bird Key, Big Pass and Downtown Sarasota, and private docks and boating access to Sarasota Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. Harbor Acres has two peninsulas that stretch out into Sarasota Bay: Hillview and Harbor Drives. Hillview Drive has 35 of its 37 homes with direct access to Sarasota Bay, while Harbor Drive is experiencing a building spree of elaborate new mansions that now decorate the northwest side of the peninsula.

Southside Village is located at the heart of West of Trail and offers residents restaurants, boutique shopping, spas, bars, galleries and nightlife. Sarasota Memorial Hospital is situated adjacent to Southside Village. It recently earned multiple spots on U.S. News’ 2021 - 2022 “Best Hospitals” List, and was the only hospital in the Suncoast region to earn a national ranking in at least one specialty. Finally, Southside Elementary School is located just a few blocks south of Southside Village.
